I started dancing as a child, and never really wanted to stop; so with great good fortune I spent the next 16 years in contemporary and modern dance. It's this that has principally influenced the evolution of my yoga technique.

I first came to yoga 14 years ago. I tried a classical Hatha yoga class, and started to practice it on my own. At first it was about physical training. I discovered, of course, that Asanas can tone and sculpt the body and improve any athlete's strength and flexibility. But with time and experience I grew to learn the deeper, more fulfilling benefits of fusing mind and body; of breathing and control and focus. At its most evangelical this becomes a search for that inscrutable harmony in our mental and physical lives. And for the everyday, I haven't found a more satisfying or enjoyable way to keep strong and supple.

My formal training lies in Surya Shakti yoga, certified with the European Yoga Alliance. For purely physical work I'm a Nike Dynamic Yoga athlete teaching for Nike Power Yoga.

For a teacher the flow of knowledge should be as natural as the asanas themselves. Teaching and learning from fellow practitioners underpins this work, and it's the key to my own development. I hope you'll continue to enjoy learning and practising together and sharing your yoga experiences.
